About Anne Kamau, LPC
Helping You Live An Anxiety Free Life
Did you know that anxiety is a commonly used term, yet one that is almost universally misunderstood? Did you know that many conditions, e.g., depression, trauma, low-self-esteem, addictions or problematic use of mood-altering substances, emotional eating, toxic / unhealthy romantic relationships, and other difficulties, have an intersection with anxiety? Did you know that anxiety may be influencing your decision making in ways that you may not be aware of?
I help people gain control over their anxiety so that they can be in charge of their lives instead of having anxiety run their lives and decisions.

At the start of therapy, it is recommended that we meet weekly. Therapy sessions build on each other, so to maximize your benefits, it is important to meet weekly.
In situations, in which someone needs extra support, such as during a crisis, you may request an extra session. If my schedule allows, I will accommodate your request.
In situations in which neither mine nor your schedule allows for weekly sessions, I can offer bi-weekly sessions, schedule permitting.
Most people, as they achieve their goals, taper down sessions to bi-weekly, and eventually to monthly as they come close to the end of therapy.
Monthly sessions will be limited to a specific number.
Session length is 55 minutes. Where possible, both our schedules permitting, double sessions are recommended for initial meeting. Follow up sessions are 55 minutes.
How soon you start to experience relief is based on your unique individual factors. However, most people start to experience relief within 3 to 4 sessions.
Often the reasons for which people seek therapy are longstanding. Therapy is a process. Commit to the process.
The best way to prepare is to have goals you want to achieve in your therapy. If you are having trouble coming up with your goals for therapy, we can work together to help you come up with some goals.
I see people who are out of network and those in network with CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield. If I don’t accept your insurance, and you have a HSA or FSA account, you can seek reimbursement. Contact your FSA/ HSA to find out if you will be reimbursed for mental health services.
